“So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the Word of Christ.”

Romans 10:17

OUR PODCAST

Church sermon series graphic for Messy Church

The preached Word of God creates and sustains the Church.

Our desire is to preach Christ crucified. We do not merely teach timeless truths or general biblical principles. We want you to hear Christ for you, where Jesus is the hero and substance of every sermon.

At GSBC, the good news of Jesus’ death on the cross and resurrection from the grave is preached straight to the places of brokenness and sin in our hearts. We do this in an expository manner, preaching through books of the Bible, where the Gospel is proclaimed through the meaning of the text every week.

Pride and the Free Will

We live in a time and culture that values “self.” Actually, values might not be strong enough. The truth is, we’re obsessed with the idea of self. We idolize it. We’re constantly talking about self-actualization, self-promotion, self-help, and self-care (after all,...

The Bound Will and the Unjust God

One of the most memorable movies from my childhood is Rudy, the classic sports film about a walk-on football player at the University of Notre Dame. The soundtrack is elite and the story is inspiring—though, I’ve since learned that the facts were a bit embellished...

The Bad News of the Free Will

My testimony of coming to faith in Christ is a bit confusing. Unlike many of the people who influenced me spiritually during my adolescence, I can’t say with one hundred percent certainty when I “got saved.” Like many of my peers, I’ve had countless conversion...

Free Will Is a Fiction

As a pastor teaching a 12th-grade Bible class at a local Christian school, I guide students through the core theological topics of the Christian faith. Rather than skimming the surface, we dive deeply into a few key subjects, sparking rich discussions among teenagers...

Your Treasure is Already in Heaven

We all feel the tug of money, possessions, and worry. Whether it’s the anxiety of not having enough or the desire for just a little more, our hearts get tangled in the belief that stuff or striving will secure our lives. But in Luke 12, Jesus speaks straight to those...

The Six Woes

We often think hypocrisy belongs to “other people” or to some darker corner of church history. Yet Jesus’ words in Luke 11 show that it grows quietly in any heart that stops listening to God’s Word as He intends it. When we replace His truth with our own standards, or...

A Prayer for the Rest of Us

What if prayer isn’t about performance, but participation? Discover Jesus’ teaching in Luke 11 and how prayer invites us into the heart of the Father, even when we feel distracted or weak.

Motives for Ministry

Why do we do what we do? Why do we pursue this Christian walk? Why do we read our Bibles? Why do we get up Sunday after Sunday to gather together? Why do we go to work and aim to be Christ-like in a world that often rejects Christ? In this passage, Paul answers these...

Grace Despite Our Messy Love

God’s love for us is unconditional, patient, forgiving, and enduring. Read a gospel-centered reflection on true biblical love and the grace found in Christ.

The End of You is the Beginning of Grace

God meets us not in our strength, but in our weakness. This reflection on 2 Corinthians 1:8–11 explores how despair isn’t the end but the beginning of grace, resurrection, and real hope through Jesus.
